SURREY PAwS
WELCOME TO SURREY PAWS, THE COMPLETE DOG WALKING AND PET CARE SERVICE
Surrey Paws is an idea created by Peter Higgins & Anna Johnston. We offer a comprehensive pet care service to pet owners in Godalming and the surrounding villages.
Each of us run our own successful dog walking companies, Happy Dogs and Pod’s Paws. We have teamed up with other fully vetted professional dog walkers, dog boarders, groomers and doggy day care providers to offer this complete and unique pet care service. We are all fully insured, trained in animal first aid and police checked. We drive air-conditioned vans fitted with large comfortable crates or custom-built caging, to separate the dogs safely whilst in transit.
By working as a close team we are able to provide holiday cover and back up support for each other throughout the year, so you won’t ever be left worrying about needing to find a replacement walker at short notice.
We go the extra mile...
We deliver a friendly, reliable and professional service to customers in the Surrey Hills area encircling Godalming. All the dogs in our care are exercised and socialised in wide open safe spaces, whilst operating under a strict code of conduct ensuring we maintain control, are courteous and considerate to other walkers and always clean up after our dogs. We will always return your dog towel dried, satisfied and happy.
We also provide DOG DAYCARE, DOG BOARDING, PUPPY VISITS and CAT VISITS.

Dogs truly are man’s best friend, and I have been fortunate to have grown up with and owned dogs for most of my life. I have lived in the Godalming Area for over 20 years, love the outdoors and through walking my own and clients’ dogs have become very familiar with this part of Surrey and its countryside.
In Spring 2012 we decided to have puppies from our Labrador, Rudie, and she gave us 9 healthy puppies, one of whom we kept and named Sasha. Having previously worked as a gardener, my career outlook changed at this point as I realised I wanted to dedicate all my time to working with animals and spend more time with my own dogs. I spent the next year exploring the concept of becoming a dog walker/boarder and in 2013 I changed my career to offer a professional, reliable and comprehensive pet care service.
Happy Dogs was set up in Spring 2013, a small family business run by myself with help from my wife Donna, and teenage children, Tom and Aimee. We provide a comprehensive range of pet services from pet visits through doggy day-care and home boarding (Licence no.000004499).

I have had dogs all my life and at the age of 14 I started as a part time kennel assistant and quickly developed a passion for caring for dogs and cats. This drove me to pursue a career with animals and lead to me being appointed Kennel Manager by the time I was 23. I worked in this role for 5 years leading a team of dedicated animal handlers and experiencing all different types of breeds and behaviours.
In 2015 I decided the time was right to use my knowledge and experience to start up my own dog walking business, and in November that year POD'S PAWS was born. Since then in an already congested market I have managed to build a reliable, professional and highly recommended dog walking company.
For me it is an absolute privilege to get up every day and spend time with the dogs and cats I care so much about. Every animal has its own character and it is a pleasure to get to know them all.

I set up Dee is for Dog following redundancy from the Corporate world in 2015.
I’ve always had a love of animals, especially dogs, and decided what better opportunity to start up my own dog walking and pet sitting business, doing something I enjoy and feel passionate about!
As well as owning dogs for the last 25 years, I also gained invaluable experience 10 years ago volunteering at a dog rescue centre in Buckinghamshire for 18 months. It was a real eye opener to experience first-hand how mistreated some of the dogs were, but also the different reasons behind their re-homing. This spurred me on to adopt a rescue and in 2012 I fell in love with Bailey, a 5 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
I absolutely love my job and feel I am very fortunate to wake up every day looking forward to what antics the dogs will bring! I have got to know them all so well and love their different personalities and quirks. Dee is for Dog is 5 years young this summer and I can not think of another job I would rather be doing. I have also recently completed Level 2 City and Guilds Technical Competence in Dog Walking.

I have always loved animals. When I was 14, after years of begging my parents, we adopted our first family dog from Battersea Dog’s Home on the promise that I would walk it every day. I never broke my word and so my walking career began.
I now live in Tilford with my family, four cats, a dog and a horse in the heart of the beautiful Surrey Hills. Having had dogs and cats all my adult life and with a great deal of experience with puppies, training and different breeds, and with thousands of walks under my belt I took the plunge to start my own pet care business in 2017.
It was the right decision because three years later and with a growing list of loyal, very satisfied customers I could not be happier surrounded by dogs and cats every day. Come rain or shine nothing gives me greater pleasure than heading out into the woods with my group of dogs, or cuddling a purring cat while their owners are away.
We are very lucky in this area to have so many fantastic places to walk, and I always ensure a variety of different routes and terrains to keep my canine friends entertained.

A former police officer for most of my working life I decided to take voluntary redundancy in 2016 so I could do something closer to home. I have lived in Bramley for 18 years with my wife Charlotte, my son Sam and our Cocker Spaniel, Louis. Having a dog and taking him for walks in the beautiful Surrey countryside got me thinking and I started my dog walking business, Surrey Hills Walkies in the same year.
On the job I have learnt a lot about dog behaviour and dog management techniques and in 2020 I did a recognised dog management qualification. I enjoy getting to know the dogs and discovering their individual quirks and personalities. With so many fantastic green spaces on our door step and such a variety of walks, the dogs and I are spoilt for choice.
Over the years my business has grown from strength to strength, mostly thanks to grateful owners that talk really positively about the service I provide and how happy their dogs are coming out with me. Group walks are what I do and reliability is very important to me, so aside from making sure the dogs have fun I ensure I don’t let the dogs or their owners down.

I am the proud owner of Wanna Go Walkies. I set up in 2016 and was formerly known as Equine and Canine Care as previously I had a huge involvement with horses as well as dogs. I have had dogs from a young age and was lucky enough to be able to have them at work with me whilst I ran a livery yard in Hambledon for many years.
I currently work at a private yard in the mornings which I have done for the last 13 years, and then spend the rest of my day walking 2 groups of lovely dogs, who I absolutely adore. I have recently set up an afternoon walk for slower, older dogs enabling them to still have the social side but under no pressure to keep up with the others. This was an idea of mine once my rescue lurcher reached 12 and likes a shorter calmer walk. I have had windows installed in my van, so it is nice and light with a lovely air flow at all times.
I am very lucky to be able to do what I love as a career. Every dog has its own personality and it is so lovely to be able to build such a strong bond with them.

Group dog walks
The main service provide, we will help you fulfil your dogs need for regular exercise and socialisation by providing a stimulating walk with a group of dogs in one of the many commons in the area.
With group dog walks we travel the extra mile to exercise the dogs in a safe environment away from roads, and prefer to have them off lead where they can play freely. Dogs must have good recall and be well socialised.
Off lead group walks however are not suitable for all dogs who start walking with us, especially for nervous dogs or ones with poor recall, so we assess each dog prior to offering this service. Initially we will walk all new dogs on lead, then use a long lead until we are sure their recall is good enough for off lead group walking.
Walks are typically an hour long (sometimes more), and we endeavour to use the larger commons and woodlands away from towns and busy roads, even if it means having to drive an extra few miles., to allow the group of dogs to play as freely and safely as possible!
We mix the walks up, so dogs aren’t stuck doing the same walk each time, varying the routes and places we go. The size of groups will typically be about 4-6 dogs walked at a time, for an hour.
Dog Boarding
Whilst you're away on your holidays or business trip, we can give you peace of mind your best friend is having fun.
An excellent alternative to traditional kennels, your dog will be boarded at home in a non stressful, peaceful, warm environment unlike that which they might experience in a boarding kennel environment.
Your dog will be treated as one of our pets, boarded indoors and given access to the downstairs to the house, and the garden. its days will be be filled with lots of walks, play and heaps of love and fuss! As with daycare they will be walked 2-3 times daily with others in a group.
We are licensed by Waverley Borough Council and fully insured to board dogs. We adhere strictly to boarding regulations and require all dogs to have up to date vaccinations.
We are only able to take well socialised dogs and unable to take un-neutered males (older than a year) and puppies from 6 months.
Boarding Licence no: LN/000004499
Puppy Visits/ Cat Visits
Puppy Visits - Before your puppies can come out for a full hour group walk… you may need help with breaking up the day for the young ones. This will include a let out in the garden and a play etc…. if feeding is required then we will do so etc…. This is good for your puppy to get to know the walker before he/she comes out and socialises with their new friends.
Cat Visits - This service includes half hour pop ins at a time to insure you cat is happy whilst your away. we will follow any instructions on feeding, cleaning, brushing and will be happy to do two visits per day if you need.
Dog Day Care
If you are working or are out for the whole day, we can provide Dog Day Care where they can come out with us for 2 or 3 walks in a day. Suitable for active dogs that can handle a lot of exercise. Your dog will have company all day whether with canine or human… and if not out on walk they can rest at home with our dogs. Typically we will pick them up at around 9am and then drop them back home at 5pm.
Back to Back Walks
An alternative to Day Care… Consecutive one hour back to back walks is an option where your dog stays with us after first walk and is taken out again for another one straight after all dogs are dropped off and picked up for the next. Typically dogs will spend 4-5 hours with us.
